It doesn’t really get dark enough in our room
for stars glowing in the dark or paint that glows.
It’s too bright for it. So here you are, have these stars
That glow at night, not enough to keep you awake,
too much not to be seen.
It doesn’t really get dark enough on our wall
to have things painted on the wall that only come
out at night. It’s always day and always loud
we’d have to have curtains thick as walls
to kill the light of all lamp posts.
Then we’d see glows that show us the stars,
then we’d see planets infinity and more.
Instead orange light kills it all,
draws squares sometimes on the wall
sometimes on the blinds
leaves glowing stars behind.
No room for children or dreams before sleep,
no room for stickers of stars that glow in the dark.
